Society at large has been changing to become more litigous. You can take advantage of this and make a living with this change. You can do this by becoming a paralegal. You can start getting certified as a paralegal with the information below.
Lawyers have an overload of work nowadays and your help is needed. Start the process of working in the law sector and help these men and women do their job. A paralegal works in the the law office, in government agencies, and sometimes will draft legal documents. The first step is to doing this type of work is no doubt schooling. If you search with some effort you can find good classes to take online. You will need to be careful that your time is used in a positive way. There are scammers everywhere and online scammers abound just like in the rest of the world. Make sure your online classes are accredited by associations just like the bigger offline schools and you will be avoiding future problems at the end of your classes.
One example is Florida Metropolitan University. They are now called Everest University. This school has an associate program to become a paralegal. You will be able to use your internet access to take classes. You will be learning the basic facts about contracts, breaches of contracts, lingo ( terminolgy ), policies and protocol, joint tenancy and more. You will also learn about wills and trusts. In this beginning of your lessons you will be tasked to research legal issues, draft legal documents, organize trial logs, and interview clients. One negative aspect of this school is that you will not be able to be certified by the ABA. This is the American Bar Association.
It is a foregone conclusion, but just in case you do not have one, one prerequisite for beginning your quest for a paralegal certfication is a high school diploma. If by chance you did attend or finish high school, a GED ( the test for General Educational Development ) is acceptable. There is a chance that you may be able to find a community college locally that offers online classes. If you find one ( or more ) check out their accreditation. Just like before, they may offer classes but those classes may not be accepted or even useful for a job in the real world.
If you do the above and find you come up with a long list of places where you can begin your adventure into the world of paralegals, do not fret. Contact people who have attended those community colleges or online universities. Do a sort of interview of those who have completed their courses and obtained their certification. If you use their testimonials, there will seldom be a chance of you being steered in the wrong direction for your own certfication.
You may know this already, but you must acheive high grades and good exam scores. Your school transcripts are going to be available to the world. Do not forget that the reflection of the type of work you will do is in the school transcripts.
