ITIL stands for the IT Infrastructure Library. It also refers to the most widely adopted approach for IT service management all over the globe. It provides the industry a concrete framework for identifying, planning, delivering and supporting IT services to different enterprises. The ITIL also provides professionals trainings and certifications as proofs of their skills in line with the ITIL standards. How to Obtain an ITIL v2 Certificate
The certification has two divisions for the individual professionals presently. There are two classes such as the ITIL v2 and the ITIL v3. For the ITIL v2, there are three certifiation levels. These are the following: the Foundation, the Practitioner and the Manager. These are being progressively disconstinued as the new class of certification scheme for the v3 has emerged. These are the v3 certification levels: The Foundation, the Intermediate, the Expert and the Master.
ITIL v2 Foundations was listed as one of the top 15 highest paying certifications in the technology industry. With an annual average income of $95,415, the ITIL v2 Foundations certification came up third on the list of highest paying certifications. To be able to qualify and get certified as a ITIL v2 foundations network engineer, the candidate must pass an examination that is designed to test the candidate's basic knowledge and understanding of hte principles and terminologies of the ITIL. It is very much open to and suitable for the staff of all levels and forms one of the entrance criteria of the other v2 certification scheme. The foundation examination is in a multiple choice format. The test period lasts for an hour alone and one has to finish all the forty questions with a closed book. No reference is allowed during the testing hours. To pass and be certified, the candidate mnust get at least 65% or above score which is equivalent to twenty six correct answers out of the forty.
Generally, carrying the foundations certificate is not enough. This most basic certificate enables people to understand terminologies used within ITIL alone and it simply focuses on the fundamental knowledge with regard to the ITIL Service Support and Service Delivery sets, in addition to the general ITIL philosophy and background. For most IT network engineers, taking the foundations exam and certification is just a prerequisite for them to move to the higher level: the Practitioner Certification which entails a deeper understanding of the concepts and application of the specific processes within the IT Service management discipline, and the Manager's Certification which entails involvement in managing service management functions, usually applicable to a more experienced professional or network engineer.
