How To Get Your HVAC Certification

HVAC Certification is different for different areas. This article will deal with those areas in the United States. The Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning business (HVAC) is not in decline as of this writing. If you are pursuing a job in this section of the business world you should have a decent job future. A person living in the United States has HVAC certfications that are determined by their state. Some things to think about are the time you will need to complete your certfication, the amount of money you plan on making, and where you want to work.

Look for contractors in your area that are part of organizations that specialize in HVAC certification. There are certain employers that will allow you to get certified while you work for them. This would be the fastest route to certification, to get on the job training and get paid at the same time.

If you are looking to attend a school or take courses you have plenty of options to choose from. There are also places online to study for your certification. A school called Ashworth College is offering study courses online. The "distance learning" as it is called has its advantages of being able to enroll and start any day of the year. You can study anywhere and at any time, you can learn basic skills, you can get expert tutorial guidance and graduate quickly. Whether all those things are true or not is up for debate. Another school is availabe for online HVAC certification. They are called Penn Foster Career School and can be found at pennfoster.edu. They have test vouchers from the Environtmental Protection Agency, a manual for preparing to work in air conditioning, a manual to teach you to use multimeters and reference texts for oil burner style heaters.

There is also a text called the "Troubleshooting HVAC-R Equipment Reference Text". They look to be a bit more advanced and list a regular street address in the city of Scranton Pennsylvania.

The last school covered here for online HVAC certification is George Mason University. They are located in Northern Virginia and offer what looks like an extensive course. Their price is also given. It is $3,195 dollars. They have rolling registrations and you are assigned a specific instructor for one on one study. It seems to be the superior way to get your HVAC studies accomplished from your home.

These courses, and especially the ones offered by George Mason University go through the whole range of courses. From HVAC heating and combustion basics to hydronics and cooling courses you need to know it all for your future job. Study hard and you will have a needed job skill and be prepared for a future working in HVAC.
