How To Become Certified To Give Lie Detector Tests

If you hate lies, then getting a job as a person giving lie detector tests will be something you will most surely enjoy. Believe it nor not your own personal morals will not be tested to get this job. The machine ( polygraph ) does all the hard work while you submit the questions and analyze the evidence.

As usual, a high school diploma is going to come in very handy for preparing for this job. The more official title that you will be looking to qualify for is "polygraph examiner". Special schools are needed because this is a special job. You will probably need to be at least twenty five years of age to start your career in this field.

If you are already a police officer, this is a great first step to becoming qualified as a polygraph examiner. You can practice on those who been placed under arrest. If you are out on the street you can learn the keywords that make a guilty person hesitant to reveal their true status.

You have classes to attend that give courses specifically for the job of polygraph examiner. They will give lessons in the history of polygraph administration, ethics of polygraph, legal issues and physiology related to lie detector examination. If you find a local provider or school that gives specific classes make sure that they are accredited by the American Polygraph Association. This was a groupd established in 1966. They have 2500 members and are dedicated to "providing a valid and reliable means to verify the truth". They are the leaders in establishing techniques and practices, research and other methods of extracting the truth from people.

There is a "polygraph training guide package" available online that will supposedly guide you through the process of being a polygraph examiner. They will show you the four computerized polygraph machine detectors and have experience. This company online will "only" charge you a cool thousand dollars for their program. The information on their site is ambiguous at best and is better left alone.

If you do not have a local school that offers help in the area of polygraph certification, you can go the next level. Apply for an internship at your state´s Department of Public Safety. You will get a license after submitting to your own background check and fingerprinting. You should have a "polygraph general" in your state that will lead you to your desired certification and career.

Under the leadership of the polygraph general examiner, you will learn what is needed to become certified. While you are in the process of learning you also will be able to qualify for the level of general examiner. The state department of Public Safety should hold a licensing exam. They will therefore be able to tell you what to study to prepare for the exam. It will be a written and oral exam, more than likely. When you pass, you will be certifed as a "lie detector" or more professionally, a "polygraph examiner".
