The AAMA (American Architectural Manufacturers Association) is the group to seek out for your certification as a window installer. They are not the only organization that can help you, but they are the major one. You will find that they have fifty years of experience in the window ( fenestration ) industry. They are currently offering a program that lasts for two days and can help you gain the certification you are seeking. Once you pass the exam, you will be rewarded with a special card showing your new credentials. This program is offered to those in the United States. The current installer class is offered in California. There are other locations for testing, so if you live in the East, be on the lookout for an exam date for your area.

The NGA, also known as as the "National Glass Association" offers an online self-study program. One of the prerequisites after completing a course with the NGA is to have one year of experience installing windows. A course with the National Glass Association will cost approximately $350 dollars if you are a member. If you are not a member the price doubles.

If you have six or more year of experience installing windows, you probably have enough credentials to take the exam without studying. If you have an AA degree or certified training from a school and three or more years of experience you may also not need to prepare for the exam. If you have a Bachelors´s of Science degree in Construction and Engineering with two years of experience, this may also allow you to opt-out of preparing for your certification.
