Manicurists are required to be licensed in more and more places. If you live in such a place and want to do nails you will need a valid certification. Read here on how to get certified as a Nail Technician.
How do you prepare to be certified as a Nail Technician or Manicurist ? One way is to become a part of a vocational school that teaches this career field. If you are still in high school and want to be a manicurist, this may be some easy money for you. Fixing nails is not hard at all and you can learn it easily.
One thing you will need to have is your nail kit. This is a tote that you can take with you that has your manicurist tools inside. You will have your acrylic paints, waxes, brushes, creams, boards and polishes and all the rest. This may cost around one hundred dollars. It is indispensable for your role in becoming a Nail Technician.
If you do not want to or can not attend the vocational school, your next step would be to attend a beauty school. Applying acrylic paint sets and fixing callouses can be something you do on a professional level soon if you enroll in a beauty school. You will need from three hundred to five hundred hours of instruction to finish their courses and graduate. You may be required to buy a uniform while you are taking classes in the beauty school. There is too much competition for fashion inside a beauty school and this is to alleviate the problem. Perhaps you are thinking that five hundred or so hours of schooling is too much. But think about it; if it is just four hundred hours, you just need ten weeks at a regular "job rate" of forty hours a week.
If you have to attend school for forty hours for ten weeks to have a lucrative business, it is surely worth it.
After you graduate, you may proceed to apply for your certification exam. State boards of cosmetology will be the place to look for this exam. You will most likely be charged a fee to take the test. If they give out study materials, great, but if not, you will have to rely on the schooling you just got from the beauty school or vocational school. Your hours of education should get you through the exam with flying colors.
Another point for those who get certified is that you will be making back the money you spent on your schooling and courses and books in a very short time after you start working. You can be making nine to fifteen dollars an hour. Your purse will be getting fat and your lifestyle will change, so getting certified could be one of the best things that happen to you.
