Getting A Certification In Ecotourism

The field of ecotouism is a fairly new category but one that is going to be getting a lot of attention. This is a brand new field and has yet to have definable certified exams and standards. Nevertheless, we will be talking about it here for your perusal.
If you live in the Phillipines, you have a program that began with Executive Order 111. This provided for the formation of a National Ecotourism Steering Committe and Regional Ecotourism Committe to evaluate projects in ecotourism. They have a system set in place for certification also. They have a well developed set of protocols and such set in place to systemize the process of accreditation.
What happens if you do not live in the Phillipines ? You can use the program offered in Australia. They claim to have the "worlds first" certification program. In spite of the glamorous claims, they have a good system set up that you can benefit from. They also produce certifications for products. The products that are "eco safe" are those that adhere to "eco best practices" and are doing their best not to abuse the ecology of the Earth. You can find them at ecoecotourism.org.au.
While the term "eco" is being placed as a prefix to many more words than in the past, it is done so without merit. This is reflected in the lack of accreditation available. A program that seeks to end this conundrum is called TIES. This stands for "The International Ecotourism Society". They have a page at Facebook and are sprinkled out throughout the web. They are connected with over ninety countries as of this writing and have branches in various regional and and national associations. They act as the global source of knowledge for ecoconservation.
Environmentalists are pushing for a global standard for accreditation. While this will no doubt try to bring about a tax for all those nations included in their list it is still being pushed. Environmentalists are not the ones to be considering a push for their own cause.
Climategate proved them untrustworthy with true accreditation powers. This process is new enough that you can do it yourself. Setting up your own organization in your state or even in your nation is a sure way to keep the power in the hands of the people, and out of the hands of a few rich. If you are truly interested in becoming certified in ecotourism, it is recommended that you take the first step and start producing your own documentation, supported by those who truly strive for purity in science and in a sincere care of our planet. Do what you are doing now and do online surveys. This will allow you to personally become your own authority on the subject. There is a wealth of information online that you can benefit from. After you gather it you can share it with others who have the same interests as yourself easily with social networks like Twitter and Facebook.
