CISCO Career Certification Overview The Cisco Career Certification Programs are IT Professional certification opportunities exclusive to Cisco System products. There are five levels of certifications. These are the Entry level, the Associate level, the Professional level, the Expert level and lastly, the Architect or the highest level. Let us focus on the professional level certifications.There are several types of professional level certifications being offered by the Cisco to the working professionals. These are the CCNP or the Cisco Certified Network Professional, the CCDP or the Cisco Certified Design Professional, CCIP or the Cisco Certified Internetwork Professional, the CCVP or the Cisco Certified Voice Professional and the CCNP wireless or the Cisco Certified Wireless Professional. An examination to obtain a certification is being administered by the Pearson VUE and has to be passed by the candidate.
How to Obtain a CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) Certification
As mentioned, next to the enrtry level is the professional level. The CCNP certification is within the umbrella of the professional level of certification. It is considered a proof of expertise on the types of works involving and related to the medium sized networks, with technologies such as the broadband, the QoS,VPNs and security minded features, to name a few. To gain the designation for CCNP, the candidate must take and pass the CCNA exams initially. In addition to that, there are four more examinations that should be taken and passed, or a composite exam along with two separate exams should be passed as another option. These are the following: BCSI or the BUilding Scale Cisco Internetworks, The BCMSN or the Building Cisco Multilayer Switched Networks, the ISCW or the Implementing Secure Converged Wide Area Networks or the ONT or the Optimizing Converges Cisco Networks.
All the certfications have a validity period of three years.
After that period a recertification is needed for continuous use of the credential. The process of renewal is simple. Recertification just requires a re-taking of the present exam previously passed or passing a higher level of examination.
