Job Overview Library and information science instructors are also called and known as library science educators. They are responsible in instructing undergraduate and graduate students in the library and information science at different colleges and universities. They lecture classes, lead small group seminars, create and administer examinations as well as evaluate them. Education, Knowledge and Trainings Required

The minimum requirement to become a professor in a college or in a unversity is a possession of an advanced degree in library and information science. The minimum standard warrants a masteral degree as well as a minimum of one year of work experience in the field. When it comes to the advancement in the position as a permanent associate and full professors, a doctorate degree is usually required.
Skills and Abilities
Library and Information Science Instructors should have a passion and the patience to teach their subordinates. The skills needed are skills in teaching and helping. Analytical skills and critical thinking skills are also necessary in constructing teaching plans and delivering teaching and learning activities with proper techniques. Communication skills both in written and oral form as well as interpersonal skills are highly regarded in this job.

Library and information science instructors are basically teachers of students in junior colleges and universities.
They either take the positions such as assistant professors, associate professors or full professors depending on their qualifications, scope of responsibilities and their professional working status. Assistant professors are new faculty members who are being trained while working so as to gain more experience in teaching and in the long run attain a status as a permanent professor such as the latter titles of an associate or full professorship. Whatever the levels or status in teaching, the basic duties of a library and information science instructor are to perform advising or counseling, teaching the subject proper, and researching. The most crucial responsibility to fulfill is to be able to educate their students. The activities that they including in their teaching plans are classroom instructions through lectures, interactive activities, textbook reading, administration of oral and written examinations and tours to significant learning venues.
