These are being driven by two powerful sectors: the government and the private citizens and community groups. Education, Knowledge and Trainings Required
If you wish to establish a career in becoming a land trust and preserve manager, take as many courses in natural sciences, such as biology , earth science, physics and communication classes as early as high school. In college, the preferred courses to be taken include those of the natural sciences degrees. These include the Bachelor of Science in Zoology, Botany and in Biology. It is recommended to have a master's degree in any of the related field or subspecialty to be able to get in the job and advance in position easily.
Skills and Abilities
A land trust and preserve manager should be naturally and genuinely concerned about preserving nature from man made pollution and destruction. The most important skills that must be present are skills in deal making, negotiation and communication.
As they will be dealing with many people from different industries and positions, interpersonal skills are highly regarded. Leadership and management skills will be of great help as well as they will be tasked to manage projects, create plans and lead people to finish each and every objective of these.
Duties
The duties and responsibilities of a land trust and preserve managers vary widely. It ranges from monitoring the site, inventory of species, and managing natural resources to some specialized conservation and preservation work. These specialized preservation work include controlled burnings, recreating lost or denuded and damaged ecosystems as well as restoring native floras and faunas. The activities that they involve themselves into fall into six major categories: rangeland management, prescribed burnings, habitat protection, planning for better use of land and water, species cataloging, and restoration and recreation of destroyed ecosystems.
Earnings and Job Outlook
The range of salary for this professional starts off from 20,000 U.S. dollars to 40,000 U.s dollars per annum. Others who are already established int the field and holding a supervisory position may earn around and over 70,000 U.S. dollars per year. The job outlook is expected to move as fast as the average for the other professions until the year of 2014.
