Job Overview Skin is one of the most important aspect that is noticeable to a person's physical attributes. Education, Knowledge and Trainings Required

The last three years are spent studying dermatology and practically training in this specialty. Dermatologic surgeon is a subspecialty that can be taken for additional years of study and practical training in this field.
Skills and Abilities
Scientific skills and technical skills are needed for a dermatological surgeon to practice his/her profession. He/she must be able to correctly identify through a thorough assessment and adequate tests the dermatological condition of the patients and be able to prescribe and perform the treatment that is appropriate. He must have mastered the use of the surgical instruments, dermatome, electrocautery device, different types of lasers and cryosurgical tools. True compassion is needed for a person to succeed as a doctor. Skills in communication andinterpersonal skills are also needed for a person to gain clients and maintain a steady flow of referrals.
Duties
Not all dermatologists do surgical procedures as their primary intervention that is why patients who are classified for these treatments are referred to the dermatologic surgeons. They basically have the same knowledge and skills as well as duties of a dermatologist such as: diagnosing and treating skin, hair and nail disorders, but in addition, they have the duty of performing surgery to those whose cases are in need of ablative therapy through surgical treatment.
Most of the conditions that necessitate their expertise are the skin burn, scars, tumors and cancers such as the basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and the malignant melanoma. They may either do a traditional surgery by removing the specific affected part, use lasers, cryosurgery (the use of freezing to remove the tissue), or electrocautery (high frequency electric current to remove tissue). For those whose skin has been enormously destroyed through burning and traumatic accidents, skin grafting is the most common procedure to restore its pleasant appearance.
Salary and Job Outlook
The salary of a doctor is varied so is the dermatological surgeons'. Dermatological surgeon though earn higher than the dermatologist becasue of surgical procedures that give them the additional professional fees in addition to that of the consultation's. Their earnings may start from 120,000 U.S dollars per annum to around or greater than 407,000 U.S. dollars a year. The job outlook is expected to grow faster than the average for the other professions as more people are getting conscious on how to be look more beautiful and younger.
