Job Overview Most of the television programs, movies and commercials that kids and grown ups enjoy consist of characters that are not real people. Cartoon like characters that act like real people who can talk, sing, dance, and do all activities done by human are called animated characters. These are the creative products of the artists called the animators.
Education, Knowledge and Trainings Required
Most of the animators are not college graduates and do not hold a college degree. The most imporant aspect in the job is not the certification of an accomplishment of a ceratin course but the skills and artistry in animation. Useful highschool subjects may include drafting, arts, computer as well as communication. For the post secondary training, one good track to follow is to take a Multimedia Arts course and afterwards apply as an apprentice in a Film and Animation Company.
Skills and Abilities
As an animator, he/she should be creative and very artistic in his works. People should get entertained and sustain their interest in every episode, aspect or angle of every presentation. A skill in drawing ans doing scuplture using clays are also top skills that make an excellent animator. They also have a good computer or IT skills and have an insatiable desire and interest in arts and designs.
Duties
Animators are responsible in producing the images that appear to be real or to come to life on the television screens. Most of their works are utilized and can be found in feature films, television programs, different computer games, commercials as well as some pop videos. There are a lot of techniques that they may employ or specialize in doing animation.
They may use drawings or series of sketches, or use several animating progrmans or softwares, models and puppets. They creat or capture separate images in different moments of motion. When these images are played and viewed at a certain sequence and speed, these may seem to be moving naturally according to the animator's idea or the purpose.
Job Outlook and Earnings
Animators may either be employed or work on a freelance basis taking projects from the video and film makers.The income of the animator depends on the following factors: number of projects in a year, the size of the employer, the country or state of practice as well as on the offsetting benefits included. The average income for an animator is around 41,280 U.S. dollars annually. Top animators may even earn around 79,950 U.S. dollars on the average.
