Job Overview Adult and vocational education teachers are basically academic teachers. They are the ones who do the instructions to those adults who were not able to finish highschool, or those who want to learn specific languages, more specifically English. They also teach those who are preparing for a specific occupation so as to provide a review, or a few polishing for personal enrichment.The basic courses that they offer include the following: music, literature, reading and writing, to name a few. As for the vocational teachers, the courses that they offer more or less are designed to prepare adults who are aspiring to lean a specific skill for a particular occupation such as: automobile mechanic courses or data processing.
Education, Knowledge and Trainings Required
As early as high school, one can prepare to become an adult education teacher. An aspiring professional should define his/her interest and give focus to the area of study that he/she wants to teach. Preparatory plans include courses in English, Mathematics, Foreign Language, vocational courses, as well as Speech and Communication, as they will be tasked to speak in front of the adults to convey the learnings and instructions in the field of study that they teach. A bachelor's degree in usually required of them, and in addition, a considerable number of years of professional experience in the area of teaching. Basically, the goal of an adult teacher is to render a teaching-learning session to them.
This session always starts with an orientation of the expectations of the course and the course outline. An evaluation for each othe students will be conducted so as to gauge the level of knowledge and understanding of each of them on the chosen area of study. Then the teaching plan will be implemented. Along the course of the teaching, there is a continuous knowledge skills assessment of different sorts. Examinations may be administered, demonstration and return demonstration for skills assesment may be required. It is the duty of the adult teacher to make sure that students have a considerable level of improvement, when it comes to the knowledge and the skills being given focus in the course.
