If you want to get into a career as a forensic artist you should check into the requirements for this job. Here we will talk about what you need to do to get a certificationn in forensic artistry.

The International Association For Identification is a good place to start on the road to becoming certified. They are located at "theiai.org". They offer the guidelines such as general qualifications and other basic information.

The general qualifications are vague and simply require you to have a good code of honor. You must have two people to testify that you are a person of good moral standing to be considered for a certification application. You must also give an example of your abilities as an artist. You must possess a high ethical and professional standing. What this means is you must have some kind of degree from a college.

Some of the requirements for the process of forensic art certification are included here. You must be able to recreate a human face using art. You must also be able to do age enhancement and facial reconstruction. Certian levels of hours are mandatory for these requirements. For example, you must have eighty hours of training in age enhancement.

Your first critical case assignment will begin the time you can start counting your real life experience. You will need two years from this date to begin certification. You will need letters of confirmation with details. The details will include total number of cases that you have completed, rank or status with your company, summary of court experience and other information.

The written part of your certfication will have multiple choice and true or false questions. The questions are derived from written study material and you have two hours to complete the test.

A professional portfolio of your work will also be required. You will be the one to present and create the portfolio. You will need the information and graphics from at least fifteen critical case assignments.

If you should happen to fail the test you will be required to wait for six monhs before you can try again. You can fail only certain portions and you will only have to retake the failed portions and not the whole test over. The lowest passing score is seventy five percent.

Some good books to read to prepare for getting certified are included here. One book is; "Composite Art Manual, Standards and Guidelines for Composite Artists" by Frank Domingo. Another book is; "Forensic Art and Illustration" by Karen T. Taylor. One more is; "How to Draw the Human Head/Techniques and Anatomy" by Louise Gordon.

Whether you wish to work in a police department or in some other group your special abilities will be needed. Think of how you can have a positive impact on the world and stay motivated to work for your certification as a forensic artist.
