Science Fair Project Ideas

Submitted by: TigerEye

Do you draw a blank when trying to think of a cool science fair project ? You will not have that problem today. We have included five science fair project ideas here in this article for those in the grades from middle to high school age.

The first area to talk about is Aerodynamics. Aerodynamics is the study of bodies moving relative to gases, including the atmosphere of the Earth. A popular science fair project is the creation of paper gliders to show the effects of aerodynamics. You can design these from laminated paper or balsa wood or other lightweight materials. This is not an exhibition of simple paper airplanes, but a true aerodynamics device able to reveal the effects of design in the air.

Weather and Atmosphere would be another good area to cover with a science fair project. With the close of the climate debates you can show the true values of temperatures over the thousands of years using complete graphs. The rise and fall of the temperatures during the recent fifty years would be a good example. True science displays facts, not media fiction, and you can be a part of this important job of displaying facts in your project. Make sure you collect valuable data online from the scientists who do not have a particluar "slant" they want to present. This is a hard job, but one that is worthy of a good science project.

Biology or biotechnology is another great area you can use for an interesting science fair project. Did you know that some microbes actually eat nuclear waste ? It is even reported that there are ways to clean up nuclear waste that has been deposited in the ground by some unscrupulous people in the past. Do your research and get the facts and present them to your science fair viewers and they will be amazed.

As usual, facts are stranger than fiction.

Getting ideas for your science fair project is as easy as reading the latest news. Did you know that devices have been created to allow those without the use of their ears, arms and legs and other parts of their body to use them in different ways ? There are special caps made with electrodes that go on the head that can read brain waves and control a computer screen. The computer then controls whatever the person needs it to control. No talking or movement of the hands is required. No surgery is required. All you need is a brain. Most of us have one so this special cap can be used as a great science fair project.

Speaking of computers, you can describe the use of quantum computer technology in your project. This is the wave of the future for computers and you can be a part of it. This type of computer can process data at speeds that beat all coventional computers of today. A recent quantum computer used lasers to extract and interpret data. This is a very recent development and you may want to get involved even if you do not want to do it for a science project.

Use the above to create your own ideas for your particular science fair project. Your goal is present true science and win the science fair prize !
