Novell provides two distinct paths to be certified as an Administrator. Read on to find out information on both of these and secure your future.
The first way to become a Certified Novell Administrator or CNA is the "Novell Open Enterprise Server for NetWare" path. This will begin with a course called "Foundations of Novell Open Enterprise Server for Netware.". It is assigned the number 3080. This course will enable networkers to do common tasks that an administrator would normally do. You will learn to install software, create and use objects in Novell eDirectory, handle and remotely control a Novell Open Enterprise Server on the Netware program, and more. This course is currently costing about $2500 dollars and lasts five days.
After course 3080, you will be given an exam. The exam is number 050-696. The exam topics will include describing the advancement of Netware, depicting the Novel Server, disabling and deleting user objects, describing how eDirectory works, using configuration files, planning the system rights for files, depicting the eDirectory security, and a host of other categories related to the Novell software. Registration for the exam is done online by using Pearson VUE. This exam has a cut score of 650 and is seventy five minutes long. Once you pass this exam you are awarded the CNA title to reflect your abilities.
The second way to get a CNA certificate is to use the Netware 6 path.
This will involve course 3016, which is the "Foundations of Novell Networking: Netware 6.5." course. The Netware 6 path is one that will teach you to direct the activities of basic tasks on Netware 6.5. Newcomers who provide low level support for an installation of this operating system are a common user of this course. You will learn to provide tasks that are varied yet uncomplicated.
The price for this course is around $2500 dollars but you can get a self study package for $495.
The exam that is related to this type of CNA certification is test 050-686. It covers such things as; identifying Netware 6.5 features, depicting how Netware interacts with other operating systems, identifying prerequisites ( prior conditions ), setting client properties, describing the "admin object", initiating traditional and NSS values, accessing volumes through mapped drives, evaluating directory structures, creating and managing NDPS, solving common security problems and a host of other Novell offerings. Registration is again required at Pearson VUE.
Novell offers training online with a live human. This is refreshing and surely to create an atmosphere of learning for you if you choose this route. You can have a classroom right there at home. This allows Novell to decrease the costs also of providing learning materials and they pass this savings on to their students. Half of the class is devoted to lectures and the other is hands-on labs. The online classes use Java ( the programming language ) so you your computer will need to be Java-enabled. More than likely your computer is already enabled for Java.
